Description
Join us for our regular chapter meeting, held in-person this time! We are thrilled that our featured guest speaker is Chris Kehrer, Science Program Manager at the Port Royal Sound Foundation. Chris will be presenting on "Surviving the Extremes: Halophytes in Harsh Environments". This talk will feature intriguing information about our native salt-tolerant plants and cover how they're able to live in such an unwelome environment when so many of our native plants cannot. You won't want to miss it! After our guest speaker, we'll go over chapter business.
Chris Kehrer (Key+rare) was raised in the Lowcountry surrounded by salt marshes. He attributes this early exposure to his lifelong passion for the outdoors and wildlife. He attended the University of South Carolina in Beaufort, pursuing a BS in Biology. While at USCB he was a research assistant in Dr. Eric Montie’s marine toxicology and acoustic lab and an intern at Waddell Mariculture Center. Chris has been with the Port Royal Sound Foundation for the past 9 years filling various roles as Naturalist, Education Coordinator, Operations coordinator, and now Science Program Manager where he strives to expose the beauty of our natural world to anyone with the patience to listen.
When: Monday, November 18, at 6:00 pm
Where: The Clemson Extension Office at 18 John Galt Rd, Beaufort, SC 29906. (Google Maps Link Here)
