Description
We are excited to announce that last fall's Bog Building for Beginners Workshop has been rescheduled! At this workshop, participants will learn from John Alexander, owner of SC Carnivorous Native Plant Nursery, about our native carnivorous plants' natural history, the species located in our state and beyond, their preferred growing conditions, and, under the guidance of John, build their very own bog garden to take home. THERE IS A $56 FEE FOR THIS EVENT. PLEASE BRING PAYMENT IN THE FORM OF CASH, CHECK, or VENMO TO PAY JOHN AT THE WORKSHOP. The fee covers the program and all building materials for the bogs, including several carnivorous plants.
John has been living in Beaufort for nearly six years, where he's had the pleasure of getting to know our native landscapes through roles as Ranger at Hunting Island State Park, General Manager at Coastal Expeditions Beaufort, and now as Manager of St. Phillips Island for the State Parks. During his tenure in South Carolina, he was introduced to and fell in love with our fascinating native carnivorous plants. His passion for these unique floral phenomina drove him to open SC Carnivorous Native Plant Nursery, which has grown from a few educational displays to a production of 100s of unique plants a year! John loves sharing his excitement about our carnivorous plants and is looking forward to meeting fellow members of the South Coast Chapter of the SC Native Plant Society.
NOTE: There is a minimum workshop size of 5 people. If you sign up, please try not to cancel (emergencies are understood) so that the show will go on!
