Wolf Mountain Overlook

At 5,500’ elevation, Wolf Mountain Overlook on Blue Ridge Parkway has a “Vertical Bog” collection of plants due to the “spray wall” of dripping rock. Several species of Hypericum—St. John’s-wort, Parnassia—Grass-of-Parnassus, Drosera—Sundew and many more plants are visible immediately across the road from parking. Enjoy the view and the ride to this lovely location. Bring lunch if you wish to stay and park at Courthouse Valley Overlook for a beautiful rest stop. Carrie Blair, leader will identify plants and bring a list from the Western Carolina Botanical Club. This trip is scientific in nature and accessible for all.

Be prepared for any kind of weather, it is cooler at high elevation.
