Description

Rick Huffman is the founder of the South Carolina Native Plant Society and will share his perspective on our thirty-year history of advocacy and being a voice for native plants. Over the course of these last 30 years, our mission and leadership have raised significant awareness, and we've stood up when it mattered. The effects have rippled across multiple currents from important policy decisions to meaningful community gatherings. The SCNPS is stronger than ever and continues to make big waves, bringing change across the state and region. Rick will offer a case study of a recent master plan designed by his firm Earth Designs for the new Black River State Park, and how this blue line park has implications for preservation across the state and nation at large.
