Summary
Description

Join us for a tour of CCU's newly revived Herbarium with the Herbarium Collections Manager, Taylor Long. The herbarium holds just over 7,000 vascular plant specimens, most of which were collected in the Southeastern United States. We will be learning about how specimens are preserved, documented, and about the research being conducted as well as why collections such as CCU's are so important to our understanding of local ecosystems.
What to expect: The herbarium room is small, so we're limiting attendance to 10 people. There will be lots of standing and listening as this is an educational tour and seating may not be available.
Location: Please meet in the foyer/interior entrance of Douglas Hall on CCU's campus. The address is 111 Chanticleer Dr. E, Conway, SC 29526
Time: 1pm-2pm.
Cost: Free!
Parking: Please arrive 20 minutes early for parking. You will need a visitor parking pass from the Department of Public Safety (255 University Blvd, Conway, SC 29526). After you get a pass, park in the visitor lot across the street, in front of Baxley Hall (100 Chanticleer Dr E, Conway, SC 29526). Douglas Hall is a quarter mile north from this parking lot, up Chanticleer Dr. It is on the west side of the street.
