Join us on Saturday, January 24th from 9am to 11am for a walk along the Sullivan's Island Nature Trail with herbalist extraordinaire April Punsalan. We will meet at 10am at the corner of Station 16 and Atlantic Avenue, walk along the Sullivan's Island Nature Trail towards the lighthouse, and circle back along the beach to wrap up our hike around noon back at Station 16. April will teach us about the many wonderful medicinal properties of plants like Wax Myrtle and Life Everlasting, two plants we are bound to encounter on our walk through the dunes.
Parking is available along Atlantic Avenue in designated public street parking places, as well as at Battery Logan on Poe Avenue at Station 16. Long shirt sleeves and pants are the best protection against wayward cactus spines and the occassional mosquito. Please wear shoes that will be comfortable for hiking through the soft sand and note that the Station 16 path can be quite muddy at times, so plan to potentially get your shoes muddy, too. Our path will take us along a loop about 1 mile in distance, but with some mild ups and downs walking through the soft sand through the dunes.
