Welcome the spring equinox by making space for native plants to thrive!
Help support native plant biodiversity at the Waccamaw tribal grounds by removing invasive species, such as Privet (Ligustrum spp.) and Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica). SCNPS will provide instruction in how to identify invasive species and techniques for removal. This volunteer event involves high exertion (walking through brush, kneeling, working with tools, etc.). Participants must wear long pants and close-toed shoes. Participants should bring their own work gloves. Tools/equipment will be provided. Please bring plenty of water. Participants may also want a hat, sunscreen, bugspray, and any personal items (e.g. snacks, medication, etc.). Volunteers must be at least 12 years old.
Volunteers are also invited to join the spring equinox fire ceremonies at the Waccamaw tribal grounds (happening at sunrise, noon, and sunset).
