Description
Happy New Year! 2025 is kicking off with our regular chapter meeting, held in-person at the Clemson Extension Office! We are excited to host our featured guest speaker, Dean Moss, Founder and Volunteer Executive Director of the Friends of the Spanish Moss Trail. Dean was instrumental in developing the Spanish Moss Trail, a beloved community asset spanning 10 miles from Port Royal to Clarendon. He'll be telling us about the history of the Spanish Moss trail, how it was developed and implemented, and what the future holds. You won't want to miss it because we'll be pairing Dean's talk with a March field trip on the trail to learn about the native (and non-native) plants that grow along its borders. After our guest speaker, we'll go over chapter business.
Dean Moss is the former General Manager of the Beaufort-Jasper Water & Sewer Authority who has spent his entire professional career, and the focus of his active retirement, working with water and land conservation activities. In addition to being the Founder and Volunteer Executive Director of the Friends of the Spanish Moss Trail, he is also actively involved in the Port Royal Sound Foundation as well as the Beaufort County Open Land Trust. He, along with all of the supporters of the Friends of the Spanish Moss Trail, is passionate about connecting our neighborhoods, conserving our unique water and nature preserves, cultural features, and historic sites for the enjoyment of all who live and come to the Lowcountry.
